About Flamescalculator
Last updated: September 22, 2026
We built Flamescalculator because we were tired of FLAMES calculators that feel like afterthoughts: buried inside ad-heavy calculator directories, bolted onto astrology lead-gen funnels, or stripped down to the point where you type two names, get a letter, and have no idea how the algorithm arrived at that answer.
Our approach is different. We believe the most interesting part of the FLAMES game isn't just the result: it's the process. Watching the letters cancel out, seeing the count tick up, following the elimination rounds as FLAMES shrinks from six letters to one. That's where the fun lives. So we built a tool that shows all of it, every single step, right there on the page.
What Makes This Different
Full Transparency
Every calculation shows its work by default. You can see exactly which letters were cancelled, how many remained, and how the FLAMES elimination played out round by round. No black boxes.
Client-Side Privacy
The names you enter never leave your browser. There's no server-side processing, no logging, no analytics on individual inputs. The entire calculation runs in JavaScript on your device. Period.
Group Mode
We're the first FLAMES calculator to offer a multi-name comparison mode. Test one name against up to ten others and see all results side by side. It's a small feature, but nobody else built it.
Correct Algorithm
Our implementation uses proper one-for-one (multiset) letter cancellation: not the incorrect "remove all instances of shared letter types" shortcut that many calculators use. The math is right, and you can verify it yourself in the Show Your Work panel.

Alex Carter
Alex is a writer and internet culture researcher specializing in relationship quizzes, compatibility games, and digital nostalgia. Having grown up playing FLAMES in the back of school notebooks, Alex has spent over 6 years covering how classic folk games and viral quizzes shape online culture. Flamescalculator was created to preserve the exact, authentic rules of the original paper-and-pen game in a digital format, ensuring the math is perfectly accurate while keeping the nostalgic fun alive.
Our Philosophy
We don't promise that FLAMES can predict your future. We don't sell astrology consultations. We don't gate the calculator behind app-install prompts or ad-blocker walls. We just built a clean, fast, transparent version of a classic game: and we tried to make it the best one on the internet.
If you have ideas for how to make it better, we genuinely want to hear them.
